Cabbage Soup Diet

Fast track weight loss with the cabbage soup diet plan

Perhaps you have a high school reunion coming up, or maybe a special holiday party scheduled few weeks away, and you will need to wear a cocktail dress. You might even be planning your wedding. Whatever the reason, you have decided that you need to shed some weight quickly. You need to lose several pounds, and you need to lose it fast. A typical diet plan, like the Atkins Diet, in which you work slowly towards weight loss by burning more calories than you eat simply will not work at this point—you are in need of more rapid results. If this sounds like you, perhaps you should try the cabbage soup diet plan.

What Is the Cabbage Soup Diet Plan?

The cabbage soup diet is actually quite simple. It is a seven-day plan that involves eating a prescribed regimen of foods on each day. The foods consist mainly of fruits and vegetables, with beef added towards the end of the seven days. On each day, you can also eat an unlimited amount of cabbage soup.

There are variations on the cabbage soup diet. Various diet plans designate different foods for dieters to eat on specific days, or they may contain unique cabbage diet soup recipes. Each recipe for cabbage soup is relatively similar, though. Most contain at least a few types of vegetables, such as green peppers, carrots and onions. By no means is this a vegetarian diet; the soups may also contain beef or chicken bouillon cubes or broth. Some also include tomatoes or tomato juice. Seasonings are usually a part of any cabbage soup diet recipe, too—and, of course, all recipes contain shredded or chopped cabbage.

Losing Weight on the Cabbage Soup Diet

The reason why the cabbage soup diet is often successful in helping people to lose weight quickly is that it is only meant to be used on a short-term basis. For a seven-day plan, most people can follow a strict diet regimen. So, as long as you keep reminding yourself that the diet program only lasts for seven days, you should be able to stay with the diet’s restrictions. Adding variety to the cabbage soup can also help--try using a variety of spices and different vegetables. And remember, if you feel hungry, either drink more water or eat more soup.
